The Granite Falls South was the last course to be overseeded. Last week we had a mixture of weather to include high winds and frost (about a month earlier than normal). This has slowed down the germination and growth of the ryegrass by about 4-5 days. The scheduled opening is next Wednesday, November 13th. Right now, we are planning on keeping the course closed through next weekend to allow additional time to get an extra fertilizer application down and to get in another mowing. Staff is wanting to make sure that we sacrifice a few days now versus having a course in poor condition for the rest of the season.
As the temperatures stay warm, we will continue to evaluate, and if the course bounces back sooner, we will open up sooner.
Spend Less Time in Line and More Time Warming Up
As you are aware, the courses are getting busy, and the lines to check in for a shotgun are longer. If you want to wait less in line and spend more time warming up, you can go to any golf shop and put money on a credit book. This will allow you to just sign your name on shotgun days and skip the line. This will also help reduce credit card swipe fees. You can place any amount on your credit book, and if for some reason you want your balance back because you are not going to use it, we will send you a check.
So help save time and money and put some money on your credit book.
Help Protect the Courses
You can do your part by helping the courses stay in great shape by filling your divots with sand in the fairways, roughs, and tee boxes. Don’t forget to repair those ball marks on the greens. They will heal much quicker if they are repaired right away. Please make sure to stay on the cart paths as much as possible and avoid driving right next to the fairways when driving in the roughs to avoid those areas from becoming thin.
