The health of our residents and staff is a top priority at Sun City Grand. Sun City Grand recognizes the pandemic of the Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) and is taking necessary measures to respond to the health safety risks. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, we know that older adults and people who have serious chronic medical conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, and lung disease, are at a higher risk of getting very sick from this illness. For such reasons, the Sun City Grand Board of Directors and Community Association Management are implementing mitigation precautions to reduce the likelihood of our residents coming in contact with COVID-19.
In staying within the guidelines of the CDC, listening to the multiple briefings from the Government/State Officials, Grand Golf is committed more than ever to keep golfers and staff safe while still allowing the golf courses to remain open. With this, the following items will be in effect as soon as staff are able to implement them.
*All practice putting green/chipping green flags will be removed
*All ball washers on the courses will not be in use
*All club washers/water buckets will be removed from the practice areas
*All rakes will be removed from bunkers (please do your best to rake them with your foot)
We are also asking that all golfers, please use your golf glove to remove your ball from the cup. We are trying to prevent other measures from being taken, such as not setting the cup all the way down. The range balls are washed after every use, and we are currently working on a better system to keep the range baskets sanitized as well as the rental carts sanitized.
This last item has had a lot of discussions, and it has been very difficult to make this decision. For years we know that golf cart traffic drastically affects the condition and transition of the golf courses. Adding more carts on the courses will cause additional wear and tear. Staff understands the concerns of keeping a social distance from anyone. With the heavy rains, the courses have received last week and over 1 inch of rain last night the courses are still very soft. In continuing with the current policy, any resident that wishes to take his/her own cart for safety reasons is encouraged to do so. However, only 2 carts per hole are allowed to drive on the turf. This can rotate from hole to hole on which cart drives on the turf. The staff will continue to evaluate this decision. The weather is predicting more rain next week. We feel that with the measures we have been taking, currently taking and allowing everyone to still take their own cart, all golfers will remain safe.
Please remember not to gather in groups larger than 10 people before or after your tee time. We are asking for your help with this, and please not to gather at all to keep everyone safe. After your round, please leave the golf facility so that everyone can feel safe.
For the safety of the staff, please only come into the golf shop to pay your greens fee. Please do not hang around the shops to talk with the staff. Please make all of your tee time reservations via the phone, internet, or the Chelsea App (instructions attached). The staff wants to continue to feel safe and come to work so that we can continue to keep the golf courses operating.
