Golf Course Updates

The summer transition of the golf courses is currently in process. The greens on the Granite Falls Courses have been triple aerified, fairways and roughs aerified, and the fairways have been deep tined and spread with 35 tons of sand per acre. The North also received a new pump station last week. The courses are heavily aerified and are filling in nicely. As always, there will be some thin areas when we open up, and they will continue to fill in when the humidity kicks in. Please avoid driving over thin areas. The North course will open on Monday, July 6th and the South course will open on Thursday, July 9th.

At the same time, the Desert Springs and Cimarron course will shut down for their 3-week closure to get the same treatment described above. Both courses were sprayed out last week to chemically remove the ryegrass. It was about 5 days earlier than we would like to have done it because the courses are thinner this week than we would like. The reason for spraying out earlier is because we reviewed the future weather forecast and saw that the first few days of the week were going to be breezy/windy and the product cannot be applied in the wind. We had to use the window of opportunity to apply the product.

The purpose of spraying out the ryegrass is to give the base grass, Bermuda grass, 100 days of non-competitive growth. This will ensure a better grow-in and a stronger stand of Bermuda grass.

We appreciate your patience and all of your support during these times as well as following all of the COVID-19 guidelines.
